As the Dock Tern’s

It has been awhile with an update, so let’s get some news items out of the way.

  • Scotty and Jackie on B Dock in the Miss Jacqueline sailboat just got engaged. Good luck to two of the best people at Tern Harbor.
  • Still no word on when the Wrights will be grandparents. The odds are 5-2 for Saturday the 16th of July. Good luck Bobby and Lauren.
  • Don Kiley is back on B dock. It is great to see Donald back. Tern and B dock would not be the same
  • Freddy Obrien got some new power and was seen leaving the dock for the first time in years. Freddy and Charlie were seen retaking a safety course with harbormaster Malone. It has been awhile since Freddie has seen the backside of Grape island. Good luck guys.
  • Speaking of Grape Island. Don Allen hit it the other night on his way back from the fireworks. Of course he had half a boat full of Coast Guard guys. A bent prop and some excuses about a moving buoy.
  • There is a new face on D dock. The Walsh family has moved in to the slip between Monty and The Lucas’s. What a nice boat. They are renaming the finger Tiara Alley. Good Luck to the Walshy’s, it might take them awhile to get used to the noise, after being on sleepy “C” dock for so many years
  • Two other new faces this year are Rand on the ” Diver ____” 39 Meridian, and Bobbie Tice on the Enticer. Great additions.
  • The Jessie and the Friendship are sold and gone. They were too big for Tern anyway. All our boats grew two feet when they left and we came out of their shadow.
  • Erin Gilberto is going to start to walk the docks with a cart. Give her your trash and have her shag your ice, and maybe bring back your cart. She is a nice sweet kid. throw her a five spot once in awhile, and you will be helping yourself and Erin out.

The next item, is the annual Tern Harbor Dock party. It is this Saturday the 16th of July. As always come, mingle and meet the people of all the docks. It is a dock party. We have always supported the Coastie Kids Charity Don Allen runs. So if you can, bring diapers or a toy for the Coast guard enlisted peoples kids. They can use it and appreciate it.  www.coastiekidschristmas.com
Dj Monty will be spinning them up all night. Actually I am goiing to try to shut it down at a reasonable hour. so no getting sour on me. I do take requests.

The theme this year is “Tern Harbor goes Hollywood”   dress in a costume from a movie, or a TV show, or a cartoon what ever.

We have been talking about it, and we thought that we might just go back to having one theme. an annual Pirate Party. So every year, you know what it is, and you can wear and add to your costume, and your boat decorations do not need to change.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?   TALK ABOUT IT.

Bring your own food and drink.

Ok, let’s get to last weekend.

I do not know what everyone did, but I know that a bunch of D dockers went to Yacht Haven and had a great time.

I went to Cohasett with the Obriens, Gilbertos, Gilberto’s, Wrights, Ciarlone’s,

McKeons, Knights, Monty’s.

We started off in sketchy weather, but we managed to party all night Friday on the back of the knot covered. We had the 1000 watt speaker and we rocked out with our  _ _ _ _ _ out. We measured or wood and it was amazing how accurate we all were on guessing the different sizes. The biggest I think measured at 37 1/2 inches.  “That’s pine with me if it is oak with you.”

Saturday brought a great beach day with the kids. later that night, be burned our wood. Lots of it in a bonfire. Sunday was a beautiful day and made a nice cruise back to Tern.

We met some really obnoxious people from Cohasett ( originals and proud of it). God forbid they come to Weymouth, I am going to give them a piece of my mind. I am proud to be from Weymouth, what the hell is so special about being from Cohasett? I sent Zoe over to rip through their party. It worked.

One last thing, Joe on the C-Built has a new summer drink:

Sweet Tea C built style:

Firefly Sweat Tea- 50%

poland spring water 50%

serve over ice with a lemon wedge. No carbs, no sugar, 22 calories.

warning….. it taste like sweet tea but packs a punch.

Enjoy my new video. I did this quick with some clips I had. I am going to do a really good one with photo’s of everybody and every boat. My picture gallery was not available when I did this.

3 secrets to cleaning your boat

After years of buying every product on the market to clean the boat, I have decided that there is just 3 must haves to keep your boat in ship shape.

  1. The Magic eraser- the magic eraser is the number 1 best product to clean the boat. It is cheap and it  looks silly, It is nothing really but a piece of white foam, but it works incredibly. Try bleach products and soaps on a canvas, or seat cover, or the gel coat, when you think it is clean, go over it with the magic eraser and you will find that itpicks up more dirt. Just use this for everything and the boat will sparkle.
  2. WD-40- they say it works on anything. They are right, just spray it on any metal parts of your boat and wipe it off and the metal sparkles. Kinda like when you put armorall on your car dash. It takes the oxidation off the metal and it is cheap to use.  Also try car tire black for that black bumper rail that goes around the gunwale.
  3. Shammy cloth- The real one, not that sham wow crap. Get the one in the clear plastic case at the marine store, or auto parts store. It will last for years. When you are done washing the boat, or after it rains, take the shammy and wipe it all down. The difference is amazing. Marine stores it is $29, at Walmart it is $9.00 for the same thing.

Some of my other favorite products are, 3M cleaner wax, tuff nuff in the spray bottle, a little bleach in your water and car soap with wax.

I hope these cost savings tips help. I am still searching for the best way to remove rust spots from white vinyl seats. Do you have any suggestions, other than soft scrub with bleach and the eraser.

As The Dock terns 2011

The official opening of boating season is 5/1/2011.
That is 10 days 8 hours and 15 minutes from now.
For those of you that have a boat that works, I am sure you are very excited.
I hope to be joining you soon.

For those of you that made the tea dance kickoff party at Stan and John’s “GAR BAR” I think you will agree that it was just a warm up for the upcoming season.

The party was a ball. People came in their hat sister hats and some ( me) in some strange outfits. We were able to raise almost $800 for the Coastie kids with some generous donations and some aggressive bidding. Thanks to everyone that provided auction items, or bid on these items.

Pictures to follow.

Classes are being held right now in Hingham for some of the marina kids to get their junior licenses. Our harbormaster Paul Malone, has generously donated his time and his tutelage to make sure these kids know what they are doing on the water.

” safety first”

Did you know that our own Bob Wrighrt from “B” dock is in the running to be the new voice of the aflac duck?

Good luck Bob. You have my vote.

If you have not been to the marina yet, the owner has opened a new restaurant named scuppers, serving aged steaks and chops. They installed an ice machine with free ice for the members and have new showers as well as washers and dryers. Be sure to also visit the snack bar at the new gas dock located off of the main gangway.

Ha Ha

April Fools. No changes that I know of, but why mess with a good thing, we have the best marina in New England.

When my boat is running, I hope I can continue to chronical the happenings at the marina.
Remember, if you see me with a camera RUN!!!!!

can you pick out the gay guy?

Best hat winner.. The hat sister would be proud

I can never run for office now.

Provincetown marina- Provincetown ma

If you have a boat and can make the journey to provincetown, then you have to stay at the Provincetown Marina.

I go every year and the place is the best destination we go to every year.
The staff is casual and helpful, and the slips and moorings are in top shape.

Services at the marina include 30 & 50 amp service, gas dock, and a ice machine.

They also have ample heads and showers for those that cannot use their own vessels.

The fun starts at the Marina, but the real fun starts when you hit the streets of P-town. The town rocks. The buzz on the street is electric. The restaurants are diverse and good.

Make sure that you make time for the Tea Dance at the boatslip in the afternoon. When you see the hat sisters, tell them Monty said hi.

You do not have to be gay to enjoy P-town, I am not the last time I checked, but it sure helps.

There is no better way to take in Provincetown than on a boat, and there is no better marina than the Province town Marina.

As the dock Tern’s Episode 10

Luau Party 2010

davegreen1

This weekend was all about the Luau party. The party was a huge success. There was much planning involved and there are so many people that contributed. I want to call out a bunch of people and I will undoubtedly leave out many who helped.

Monty- DJ for the event, and light show ( special thanks to Skippy, Fast Eddie, Craig and Artie the one man party for help with the setup)

Mrs Slushy ( the queen of B Dock) The kids were entertained for hours and spoiled. They had over ten games including a bursting pinata. They spared no expense putting it all together.

Mrs Knight Rider – see above. She helped out financially and with her time. All the woman did. Thanks. Although she did forget the chafing dishes!!!

Thirst and Howl and Lovie for all of their help with the paper goods, setup, $$$ for the food etc.

Boobie Oar- for orchestrating the local harbormasters, and the coast guard.

Alec- for his MANY dump runs and keeping the place in order. also for his help with the food.

Charlie and FeeFee. Thanks for your generous support with the BBQ and for hosting the solid Gold Dancers on your bow.

Solid Gold dancers aboard the Relax

Solid Gold dancers aboard the Relax

M&M”s- Thanks for you generous support and the time you did with the kids. I know you were on a tight schedule.

Joe Sugar, Nancy and Paul the owner, for allowing us to get together. This would not happen at most marina’s. They generously gave prizes, ice  and had the marina looking spiffy for the event. It is not without a little trepidation that they allow us to rip it up and fend off all the calls from Weymouthport etc.

A specila thanks to the Coast Guard who brought their 41 foot boat by for the kids to tour, and for giving the people of Tern Harbor an ad hoc safety speech. It luau 2010 062is always good to see the other side of these people. They have to be sooo serious when they are working, because it is a serious job. Let’s hope you never need them out there. Be safe!

Thanks to everyone who made food, decorated their boats, brought gifts for the coastie kids christmas charity.

Thanks soooo much for all your generosity

Thanks soooo much for all your generosity

The heat was once again oppressive, I went down hard on Saturday during the setup. Thank God for Captain Morgan. I was able to overcome the dehydration.

Everyone looked AWESOME.

But we did have three winners of prizes.

Best Dressed kid- Ryan from C-Dock ( 2 Red Sox Tickets)

Best dressed Boat- The red faced Killer on the Sea Bitch II ( nice job) Tosca gift card ( thank you sea chain marine and tern harbor)

Best Costume- Buffy from The Boat Biz. Tosca gift card

Best Dock  HMMM!  Lets call it a tie, between B and D dock… I will tell you, that B dock took the challenge VERY personal. They went way over the top and went all out. They had the tiki Bar. lights and more lights ( no cheating either with xmas lights) I should know, that tiki bar was holding my ass up at 3:00. You people are good real good. No one can drink with you people that is for sure. Except for maybe our own Boobie Oar on D dock.

Not to be left out was a visit from Tommy Boy on the mooring, and even some folks from A and F dock. It was a TOTAL marina party. I hope you got to meet people that you never met before.

One last shout out before the pictures. The Boys from the Jersey Shore did a fabulous job decorating their decks. They all have a big Deck and it is no easy 061[2]task to decorate that thing. They even showed up with a 5 foot tall fiber glassed penis at midnite ( thanks for leaving it on my awning  haha). Only to be out done by Swibby who dressed up like a playboy bunny and a priest at 2:00AM in the morning. That man is not right. For those of you that do not know Swibby from B dock, It is probably because you are not out late. They call him the cockroach, because he only comes out at night.
